The School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM)
is an academic unit within the Hong Kong Polytechnic University
and according to the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research
(August 2005 issue), the School was ranked among the world's top
four academic institutions in hospitality and tourism based on
research and scholarly activities.
Public Policy Research Institute (PPRI): a
research institute established by The Hong Kong Polytechnic
University to undertake public policy research.
Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB):
a Government-subvented body, was founded on 1 April 2001 under
the HKTB Ordinance. The HKTB's mission is to maximise the social
and economic contribution that tourism makes to the community of
Hong Kong, and to consolidate Hong Kong's position as a unique,
world class and most desired destination.
Hong Kong Tourism Commission (HKTC):
a tourism commission established by the Government of the Hong
Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) in May 1999. The job
of HKTC is to enhance the tourism facilities and support the
development of new attractions and events so that Hong Kong
remains a premier tourist destination.
Census and Statistics Department (C&SD):
a department within the Government of the Hong Kong Special
Administrative Region (HKSAR). C&SD's mission is (1) to provide
adequate, relevant, reliable and timely statistics to facilitate
research, discussion, planning and decision making within the
government and in the community; (2) to ensure that the
compilation and dissemination of statistics are in accordance
with scientific principles, professional ethics and
international standards; and (3) to promote a user-based
culture, ensuring that users can obtain effective and convenient
services.
